The "world's deadliest gun"

In the wake of the London bombings and the subsequent angry condemnation of terrorism, an Australian company has invented what it claims is the "world's deadliest gun". This weapon of ultimate terror will be used by precisely those countries that claim to fight terrorism.

"Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap..."

*wets himself and cries under his desk.

Asteroid headed near Earth in the future?

Not as crazy as it sounds. Here's a quote from USA today online that tips the iceberg that may end up being the real-life-imitates-Michael-Bay-"art" in our not so distant future. Definately check out the USA Today Article.

From USA Today online:

"Humans live in a vast solar system where 2,000 feet seems a razor-thin distance. Yet it's just wide enough to trigger concerns that an asteroid due to buzz Earth on April 13, 2029 may shift its orbit enough to return and strike the planet seven years later."

This is the largest digging machine (or trencher or rotating shovel) in the world. It was built by Krupp and is shown here crossing a road in Germany on the way to its destination, an open air coal mine.

Teen Titans is the perfect Emo kid show

Here's why:

  • Emo kids like to pretend to be into all sorts of cool and different things like Anime.
  • Teen Titans is cool and Anime, but american enough to be absorbed easily without too much effort.
  • Emo kids like to identify with dark and emotional characters, like Raven from said Teen Titans.
  • Emo kids dig romantic sublots. Teen Titans features a subtle romantic and sweet subplot between Robin and StarFire.
  • Teen Titans features a theme song by cute Japanese girls of the group Puffy Ami Yumi. The song is catchy and kitsch. Emo kids love kitsch and wish they could write catchy songs.

For these reasons and more, Teen Titans is the perfect cartoon show for emo kids with long hair, one lip pierced, a zipped up hoody and Elvis Costello glasses.

Google Adds Playable Option Google Video

Now you can search only the "watchable" Google videos.

It was kind of tough to find videos on Google video that you could actually watch but now you can specify which type of search you want to execute. Kinda nifty. Gotta love those Google kids.

Could blogging spread computer worms?

Could RSS feeds become a conduit for the transmission of computer worms? Security experts are at odds over the possibility. Those who play down the threat point to the fact that no virus has ever used the propagation technique.

"I've been really excited about RSS for a while. I think it's a great innovation that will shift a lot of focus away from the user towards automation. This may have it's drawbacks though. Overall, RSS/XML is exciting, BitTorrent is exciting, but it really depends on what you shove through the feedline."

How to make an RSS Enclosure

OK, kids.  Podcasting is getting bigger and bigger, what with iTunes integration on 4.9 but are you still relying on your blog to provide you with RSS feeds?  If you are running your own site (which is admittedly high-labor/low result), than you may want to take a look at this article to get an idea how to create an RSS feed on your own.  Sydication abounds when you can create your own feed.  I haven't done it myself yet as of right now but I will soon.  You know I do have a podcast but not a direct feed from my site www.joshmills.net just an indirect link from the RSS/XML fed teamjosh.blogspot.com.  Check it out kids.  Enough for now, I have to get ready to go to Covington, GA.  Gotta love southern women.

Google's Summer of Code program

The Summer of Code is Google's program designed to introduce students to the world of open source software development.

This sounded like a really cool opportunity (SP?) for coders to hone their skills and maybe get paid for it. I'm not too great with different languages but I thought an open-source intro was the way to go. Too bad I missed the deadline.
