Elliptical Madness

This is my roommate Allison. She is very nice. Today she bought an elliptical machine to work out in the living room with. That sentence ended with the preposition with, so I will reformat it. Today my roommate Allison bought an elliptical machine with which to workout while still in the living room. I helped her lug it inside in the torrential rains that have plagued southern California of late. Working out in the living room will be nice, it might help preserve the local squirrel population. Whatever.

I think I may be in love with this girl, who knows. She may not even really be a girl, or she may be in high school. Whatever. I found her blog by clicking on the "view next blog" tab above my own blog. After a few clicks, I found hers. Complete with some acoustic song and her broken heart and weird slang way of writing stuff like som1. Oh well, she's probably really a dude or something equally horrible. Anyway, I must marry her.

I poisoned myself last night

One green potato won't kill you. But six or seven may. This might be the only lesson I have to reflect on as I clutch my stomach and lie in the fetal position on my bed. Between bouts of gut-wrenching pain and distention in my lower abdomen, I have been sitting up long enough to blog a little bit about last night, a fairly ordinary and uneventful Friday night around the homestead wherein I just sat around and watched Zoolander on TV. The movie was a little better than I expected, and the food was a little worse than I expected. But all things being equal, I did Google "Green Potatoes" last night to find that infact no, Solanine (uh oh, here comes the pain again as I write) probably won't kill you, if you eat one green potato. But one potato won't feed a grown 26 year old man (Not again, I cramp and curl up) so I ate five or six. It seems that a six-pack of Solanine-laced spuds will do quite the number on your plumbing. Solanine is a poison that is present in all potatoes to some degree, but is particularly concentrated in the skin and eyes, especially in green ones. (uh oh) So when one consumes five or six green potatoes, bad things tend to happen. But not so bad, I think I'm going to make it, but it isn't pretty. For all you kids out there, stay off the green potatoes.

Band of the week: 2/13/05

Besides being the week of my loving father's birthday, this was also the week I became totally obsessed with the band Coheed and Cambria. For those who are artistically bankrupt and haven't experienced new music, this might be a good place to start.



Listening to Co&Ca is like eating a stick of crisco, it may not be good for you, but it sure tastes like shit. Ok, bad analogy. Coheed and Cambria are a semi-punk/emo/whatever-core band that formed a few years back from the remains of a band call Shabutie. The lead singer Claudio Sanchez, sings in like seven different octaves, usually at the same time. How does this sound you ask? Fucking brilliant, although you may not know it's a man when you first hear their music. As for the music itself, Coheed and Cambria are a band unto themselves. Their first album, The Second Stage Turbine Blade, introduced the world to a brand new concept album. Namely, a super-futuro-scifi tale involving the two lead characters, a man and wife named Coheed and Cambria. Starting to get the picture? Well, it doesn't get much clearer on their second album, In Keeping The Secrets Of Silent Earth:3, which continues the tale of Co and Ca and their children. On the surface, Co&Ca is worth a listen just for their music, but beneath is a wonderfully realized set of concept albums (There will be four, but they tell the story out of order) just waiting to be dissected and enjoyed. I'm a bad blogger

I realized tonight that I am a bad blogger. People comb the internet and real-life every day to blog some interesting things on a daily basis. I, however, have almost nothing interesting to say to more than about a handful of people and most of them are in my family. I guess either I don' believe my life in interesting enough, or it really isn't. Either way, here's a little bloglet to let you know what I've been up too.

I ran over a squirrel on my bike yesterday. I mean, I wasn't trying to, but I was riding on the sidewalk and someone was running in the street, which confused the small fuzzy creature into running for the lawn, which as is turns out was a bad move as I promptly hit it with my bike. But it was ok. I digress.

As for The Addictions, rehearsals continue to sound better and better and we will have two gigs coming up soon. When I have more information, I will post it at www.joshmills.net/theaddictions.htm. Check it out. Peace for now.

Email Test

Hello out there in blogger land. This is an email test. You see I've set up my blog so that I can send emails and publish remotely. This means I can be on my cellphone (Which is currently on the fritz) or on a PDA and email a blog post, bringing you the latest news from LA LA land. Hollow Hills

So I figure, if comics are in serial form and so are TV shows, why can't one use a blog like an other type of serial medium and post stories arcs in increments like a comic? And the answer is "Hollow Hills," a work of serial fiction created by me that explores the bizarre and mysterious town of Hollow Hills and it's many "diverse" citizens.
